Holy Cross Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
Transitional Care Unit

Design of a new 25 bed Transitional Care Unit within a 150 bed skilled nursing facility. The Subacute Care Unit will have access to a centrally located Physical and Occupational Therapy Facility. This unit has special upgraded finishes to create a non institutional atmosphere.

Immunogenetics Laboratory

Atelier designed a space housing an Immunogenetics lab. The space previously existed as a medical office. Extensive research was completed to determine the specific programming needs for the medical lab. Client requirements were specific and Atelier was able to accommodate the needs of the client. Scope of work included design development, construction documents, and construction administration.

Washington Hospital Center
CT Scan
Washington, District of Columbia
The project scope of work included the design of a proposed build-out to enclose an existing courtyard between the West Building and North Addition. The proposed enclosure houses the CT Scan. Atelier designed a new roof structure to enclose the existing courtyard with a new exterior wall so that part of the courtyard could remain.

Harford Memorial Hospital
Subacute Care Unit
Harve de Grace, MD
Design for a 10,000 square foot Subacute Care located on the 3rd floor of the hospital. The project is designed using Long Term Care code requirements with high quality residential finishes. The unit is organized by the corridors and their intersecting nodes. The traditional Nurses Station is replaced with living room like Care Centers where the resident's family meets comfortably with the care providers.

Liberty Medical Center
Subacute Care Unit

Design for a 34 bed Subacute facility with 18 semi-private and 2 private rooms on the seventh floor of the hospital. This unit was designed to meet all State of Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene long term health care facilities requirements and special hospital concerns by integrating the subacute requirements with the existing hospital system.

Subacute Care Unit
Catonsville, MD
Complete renovation of a 143 bed facility to include upgrading one existing Moderate Care Unit into a 48 bed Subacute Care Unit. The facilityís Physical and Occupational Therapy space was more than doubled to include portions of home living, a kitchen, a bedroom, and a bathroom. The Subacute Unit will be located adjacent to the new Physical and Occupational Therapy space.

The design of a 103 bed addition to an existing Comprehensive Care Facility. The facility will include a 50 bed Subacute Care Unit. The Subacute Care Unit will be located on the ground floor with a separate public entrance for the unit and for the associated Physical and Occupational Therapy Facility.

University of Maryland Baltimore Campus

Consulting Design Services with Mariner Health of Maryland on a Subacute Unit located in the existing University of Maryland Baltimore Campus Hospital. Reviewed and made design recommendations for the renovations to meet Health Departments requirements for activities space, Nurses Station, Physical Therapy and support areas.

Renovation of an existing 80 bed comprehensive care facility in a phased plan of implementation for redesign of existing care units to meet the State of Maryland regulations. The design included an entrance lobby which was designed to be a living room with a fire place and library book shelving. An existing stone house was also renovated to accommodate the administration areas and will connect to the existing facility.

Design alternations to a 159 bed comprehensive care facility. The design included updated, state code compliant, open and effcient nurses stations and their ancillary spaces and renovation of patient corridors. A portion of an existing 15 bed unit was converted into an independently functioning Alzheimerís unit that incorporated special day-room areas and controlled unit access and confinement.

Renovations of an existing 200 bed facility for compliance with applicable State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene regulations andlocal building codes. The design included the enclosure of a second floor deck to increase the amount of activity and rehabilitation space and alternations to the front entrance to meet ADA requirements and to help define the front main entrance.

Complete renovation of a 143 bed facility to comply with local building, Life Safty, and State of Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene regulations. The design includes relocating the front entrance to create a more prominent entry, upgrading the finishes in the lobby, administration offices, and public areas, and the expansion of the physical therapy and occupational therapy space.

Partial renovation of the administration area, four nurses stations and the expansion of the physical and occupational therapy area. The project includes the conversion of spaces surrounding the existing nurses stations into office space, Central Supply Room, Medication Rooms, Nourishment Pantries, Clean Utility Rooms,and Shower Rooms to meet the State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene requirements.

Renovation of a 25 year old 170 bed comprehensive care facility. Renovations included upgrading the existing facility to comply with state regulations in phases. Design work included new finishes for all the units, the addition of a lift in the main lobby to provide accessibility to the facility, redesign of the nurses stations and their ancillary spaces and the expansion of activity spaces.

Design of alterations to a 159 bed comprehensive care facility. The design included work on the resident rooms and provides updated, open, and efficient nurses stations with their ancillary spaces. A portion of a resident wing was converted into an independently functioning Alzheimerís unit.

Master planning and design renovations to a 224 bed comprehensive care facility. The work included the design of the lobby area and first floor nurses station as well as design of increased activity space. Mariner Health & Rehabilitation Center Hyattsville, MD Schematic design for the renovation of a 224 bed Skilled Nursing Facility to comply with local building codes, Life Safety, and State Health Department regulations. The design includes upgrading all finishes and the renovation of the dayroom and nurses station

Design of a new 150 bed facility that houses two comprehensive care units, a special care unit for Alzheimer patients, and a subacute unit. The facility has four extensive exterior courtyards for different types of activities, care, and control. The dayrooms were specifically designed to provide the residents with more exposure to daylight and views to the surrounding wooded site.
